Tinder Launches Blind Date Feature That Puts Your Personality In The Spotlight

Tinder is launching a new in-app feature called Blind Date, where looks (hopefully) don’t matter as much as personality. The experience is the latest in the Fast Chat lineup, including Hot Takes, Vibes, Music Mode, and Swipe Night.

With Blind Date, users will answer a short series of icebreaker questions such as “It’s OK to wear a shirt ____ times without washing it” and “I put ketchup on____.” They will be matched in a timed chat with a person who have similar answers, but members won’t see any details about the other person.

When the timer runs out, users will then have to choose between liking their match, revealing the other’s profile if it’s mutual, or choose to be paired with someone else and move on. The dating app said that members who used Blind Chat made 40% more matches than with other Fast Chat features.

Tinder’s Fast Chat provides interactive experiences where users get to chat with others based on similar interests or prompt answers before matching. The app now wants its members to put looks aside with the anonymous dating feature, hoping to attract users that “value authenticity”. Blind Date is available in the US now and will be rolling out globally over the next few weeks.
