Penang cops nab 4WD driver caught on camera driving dangerously

BUTTERWORTH: Police have arrested a man believed to be the driver of the four-wheel drive (4WD) vehicle who was seen driving dangerously and almost causing an accident at KM138.7 of the North-South Expressway.

Central Seberang OCPD Asst Comm Shafee Abd Samad said the suspect in his 30s was detained at the traffic office of the Central Seberang Prai police headquarters.

“The suspect was detained on Sunday (March 20) at about 11.30am,” he said in a statement.

ACP Shafee said police will proceed with the investigation under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1957.

On Saturday (March 19), at about 4.30pm, police detected a video that was uploaded to Facebook by a user with the handle “Jebat Maoc” and in the video, the suspect was seen aggressively trying to squeeze through traffic, and almost causing an accident.

Investigations found that the incident happened at the highway near a factory, and the one-minute and 35-second video clip had been taken on Friday (March 18) at 2.49pm.
